So, last Thursday, we discussed social capital…what that means…why
it’s important. The one thing that really struck me from the entire
discussion was this: 100% of us have the ability to be negative when
working with others, just a fraction of us know how to be
solution-oriented. That was so powerful for me. That’s one thing I can
put into practice today–offer solutions when everyone else is “heehawing”
about all that can go wrong! What about you? If you were at Renown last
week, leave a comment about the thing that was most important for you from Thursday’s conversation. If you missed it, listen to the podcast and come
back to add your 2 cents. Go on, add a comment. It’ll take a few
seconds. Your boss won’t see you…I promise. On the other hand, maybe
you should wait till you get home; (a’hem) build up some social capital
with your boss, first…
On a side note, what’d you guys do for St. Patty’s day? Just curious.

I learned the gossipin is bad.
That the negative within will not do anything but bring the work place down. I worked for St Pattys day.
I think the thing that hit me most was being solution-oriented. We can always point out the things that are wrong, but most people never have an answer to how to fix it. I know that’s something I really need to keep in mind.
I would have to agree with Bekah. Being soultion minded instead of jumping on the complaint train is something we all should try to do more of. I believe we are all inteligent humanbeings and are capable of using our brain more and our mouth less. If we just take sometime I bet we can figure out a soultion to the problem instead of just talking about it. I know that it drives me crazy when people complain just to complain. It doesnt really do any good. It just becomes words coming out of….Wait a minute…. I just complained didnt I !! OOPs.
To add on to Bekah and Kenneth I think if we talk about it and make it a group situation it also pulls together team work which is something that has to be a part to make an office move the right and positive direction..if not you have alot of people who want to be chiefs and no Indians!
I stumbled upon the fact that people just want to be loved… anywhere and everywhere, people are wanting someone to value them and their contribution to mankind. Whether I’m at work or at the gas station, if I take the time to show love, situations and communications change for the better. The real questions is, how can I be consistent at that all the time?
