It's so true that when God is not the focus the relationship becomes a needy, unhealthy one. I guess for me the biggest thing is I have been so scared to be in a relationship, because I don't want to be in any more clingy, unhealthy relationships. I have experienced that and desire better than that for my life. I have been pondering what a healthy relationship looks like. Although I had awesome parents in raising me, I don't see that healthy relationship operating first in a love for God in their lives. I know we all screw up. That is certainly the case, but there has to be a better relationship than the ones I see my family living with their spouses. I guess personally I have desired to connect to people who do live a life with their love fueled by their first love for Christ. I guess I desire to see what that love looks like.

I have seen this true in my life when I sit down to look back at a past relationship and only seem to ask for help when it is the hard times in the relationship, it is never when good things are happening. So what I got out of the time at Renown is that God needs to be strong in my life before start one with someone else.

I suppose some one who has an intmate relationship with the one who IS love is truely happy with themselves and lives their life to the fullest, regardless of the worldly perception. If we can love ourselves enough to know that we ARE worthy a great relationship, maybe we will find one. If we know we are worthy of love, maybe we can feel like we have something to contribute to a relationship. If both parties have this outlook, then maybe the relationship won't just be another meaningless, waste of time.
